On 25th October The Patrick Centre at Birmingham Hippodrome was transformed into a trench where families were invited to spend the night and take part in WW1 inspired activities including trench art, poppy making, songs from WW1 and compositions led by Ann Jones. As the storyteller I created several story based participatory sessions and performed a short piece based on the diary of a Birmingham Soldier. We were visited by the cast of war horse and as people went off for their backstage tour I invited people to write and make a horses head as a memento of the evening. ‘The Soldiers Tale’ and ‘Back in Blighty’ will be available Autumn 2014 as part of my WW1 storytelling package suitable for ages 8 +. It will draw on the research and workshops developed for Birmingham Hippodrome. Please email me for further details pynstockman@gmail.com
